Nick Eaton of The SpokesmanReview has a good article on the kicking situation at WSU. As we all know, field goal kicking has been shady at best the last few seasons for the Cougs. It came to a point where Doba almost abandoned kicking field goals all together. This year Patrick Rooney has stepped up his game and earned the spot as the number one kicker thus far. From the article, “With each day I feel like I earn more and more acceptance with the team,” Rooney said. “And, I mean, all the guys on the team are great guys. It actually makes me want to make the kick even more when they're sitting there taunting me. Sometimes it actually starts to relax me a little bit.”
